About this property
The worlds oldest hotel according to Guinness in 1996 (though currently other hotel re-registered Guinness), Hoshi Ryokan was established in 718 and has been operated by 47 generations of the same family. It offers hot springs and traditional dishes. It is a 5-minute walk to Osshobe Park.
Rooms at Hoshi have a tatami floor and Japanese-style futon bedding. The wide windows look out on peaceful greenery. All rooms have a TV, green tea and an en-suite bathroom with bath.
Nata Temple is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. JR Kaga-Onsen Train Station is a 20-minute drive away and free shuttle is available by reservation only.
Guests can relax with a massage, enjoy the sauna or sing karaoke. The hotel has a garden and a pottery gallery.
A Japanese breakfast and traditional multi-course dinner are served in the dining room. Drinks and snacks are available at Japanese-style pub Irori and Garyos Bar. Guests with tattoos may not be permitted to use the property’s public bathing areas or other facilities where the tattoos might be visible to other guests.
