About this property
Located on the seafront, Oban Youth Hostel offers rooms with private toilets and showers, and is just 10 minutes’ walk from Oban rail and bus stations. Kitchen and lounge facilities, free on-site parking and free bicycle storage are also provided.
An internet hotspot, laundry facilities and luggage storage are available. Full English and continental breakfasts are on offer in the modern dining room and snacks and drinks can be bought in the on-site shop.
Oban is known as “The Gateway to the Isles" and the ferry port is just a 15-minute walk from the hostel. Oban Distillery is only a 10-minute walk away and features a Sensory and Flavours Tour which runs regularly throughout the day. The impressive McCaig’s Tower is a 15-minute walk away. Please inform Oban Youth Hostel in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation.
Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.
Full payment for all bookings will be charged at the time of booking. All major credit and debit cards are accepted excluding American Express.
All bookings will include a temporary membership fee per person per night. (Full, existing members of Hostelling Scotland and HI using these channels are not entitled to a membership refund).
Individual reservations (Up to 9 persons) - can cancel free of charge until 3 days before the arrival date. If cancelled within the 3 days before the arrival 100 percent of the total price will be charged.
Groups reservations (more than 9 persons) - different policies and additional supplements will apply. More than 8 weeks (57 days or more) 20% of total cost. 8 – 4 weeks (56 - 29 days) 55% of total cost. 4 – 0 weeks (28 - 0 day) 100% of total cost.
No stag or hen parties are permitted at any youth hostel.
Should guests be entitled to a refund or part refund please note that these are processed by Hostelling Scotland National Office, Stirling. It may take 7 to 10 working days from the date of cancellation request for the refund to be processed back onto the original card used.
From the age of 12 to 15 years, young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian of the same gender when booking a bed within shared accommodation. Parties with young children (under 12 years) will only be accommodated in private rooms, where available
Hostelling Scotland advise that additional notice be given to the destination youth hostel when travelling with children, to ensure that suitable accommodation is available. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots.
Check-in is from 16.00 until 22.00 and check-out is until 10.00. Late arrivals and access outside the opening hours is by pre-arrangement only.
The Hostel reception is open 24 hours a day from March to October. During the winter season reception maybe closed between 23:00 and 07:00.
Guests arriving by public transport before check-in time are welcome to drop off luggage, which is stored free of charge in a locked luggage room.
Guests in private rooms do not have to vacate during the day as long as they allow cleaners in to empty bins.
Please note that the free parking space are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
